Treatments & Services
Orthoses/Orthotics are insoles used to correct foot alignment and pressure areas. They assist in reducing pain, evenly distributing forces through the foot and correcting the alignment of your lower limb, hips and spine. Most problems are improved with small to moderate changes.
A Podiatrist will assist in the rehabilitation of acute and long term/chronic sports injuries. Podiatry acute injury management focuses on reducing swelling, pain and unloading the injured tissue. A management plan to optimize recovery & reduce de-conditioning will be implemented. The Podiatrist's plan will include techniques to reduce the likelihood of re-injury.
Long term/chronic injuries will be assessed to determine the factors contributing to the persistence of the injury. Footwear, biomechanics & strength will be assessed to structure a successful rehab plan & return to sport.
Diabetic Foot Care
Due to the poor sensation in the lower limb with diabetes (particularly in the feet) issues such as poor circulation and slow healing occur, therefore we recommend a 6 monthly diabetic foot care appointment to ensure the skin and nails for the foot are well cared for.
At many of our practices, podiatrists are armed with multiple options to help with acute injuries such as sprains and fractures.
We are also here to help with education and rehabilitation.
Bio Mechanical Assessment
Following a biomechanical assessment the Podiatrist will provide a range of techniques and exercises to improve neuromuscular function to improve your movement efficiency and reduce pain.
Flat feet in children is a very common concern for parents. Many parents will seek the opinion of a podiatrist to ensure their child is going through ‘normal’ development; or if their child is experiencing pain, or is clumsy and not keeping up with their peers. Children also commonly present with pain through many areas of the foot and ankle that your podiatrist can assess, advise and manage.
All things Feet
General foot care is important for the prevention and management of nail and skin problems. The management involves clipping nails, debridement of corns and callus as well as management of ingrown toe nails and various skin concerns.
Many lower limb aches and pains can be improved simply by choosing the right footwear. We will provide you with recommendations on the most suitable footwear for your biomechanics and sporting activities to reduce pain and injury risk.
Ingrown Toe nails
A very common yet painful issue podiatrists manage is ingrown toenails. They can come about for many different reasons and can commonly be removed with minimal or no discomfort by your podiatrist.
Post Surgical Recovery
Podiatrist will assist in recovery from surgery. In the initial stages, post operation, the podiatrist can assist getting you back weight bearing as soon as possible with massage and mobilizing work along side the exercises the surgeon recommends.
